This view started my landscape quilt career. As I looked out the window of a beautiful villa at Lake Las Vegas Resort, the patterns in the mountains looked so much like fabric to me that I had to come home and recreate the view in a quilt. The buildings across the lake aren’t literal and I left out a hotel parking lot. I felt free to use lots of color and patterns in the mountains because that’s what made this view so extraordinary. The owner of the villa is now the owner of this quilt, although I admit it was hard to part with since it was my very first landscape quilt. But he loves it so I’m glad he has it. With this quilt, I got hooked on landscape quilting and haven’t stopped since! By the way, the quilt is square, the picture was taken at an angle because the quilt is hung in a hallway so there's not enough room to take a picture straight on.
