The artist’s comments on this quilt

      This is one of many beautiful views in MonteLago Village, the town center of Lake Las Vegas Resort in Henderson, Nevada.  I made the same view in a much larger size for a client (34" x 40") and learned that it takes almost as much time to make a small quilt as a large one when you're doing detailed work like this!  Unlike landscapes that can be made to give you the feeling of the photograph without having every blade of grass and pebble exact, buildings have to be quite detailed and precise to portray the view, at least in a way that satisfies me.  It took a lot of effort, but I think it resulted in a great quilt.  I like when my quilts have something in the foreground to add depth and perspective to the overall view, so I chose a photo that includes a bench and a lamp post.  I had fun adding items to the bench -- this quilt has a shopping bag because of the fabulous shops in the village.  Starbucks is on this street but just out of view in the photograph that I used, and of course Lake Las Vegas is known for its great golf, so on the larger quilt (not shown), I placed a golf magazine and a cup of coffee on the bench.
